Less than a week, for more than just $1000

When I first started flying, I was strapped for cash. Heck, who isn’t strapped for cash when it comes to flying? I had quickly caught the infectious passion for aviation and knew that it was never going away.  I saved enough to get started in my training but needed help continuing forward. Thankfully, my CFI’s wife was, and still is, a member of our local chapter of the Ninety-Nines. The Ninety-Nines is an international organization of women pilots with a mission that “promotes advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support while honoring our unique history and sharing our passion for flight.”

Working the Reno Air Races with my wonderful friend, Katie Greenwood, who is a fellow woman aviator and current Chairman of the Reno High Sierra 99s.

We are women who love all things aviation and do all that we can to grow beyond the 6% statistic that is representative of how many pilots are women.

My CFI told me about a scholarship they were offering and I quickly got in contact. The women were very welcoming and encouraging. I become a student pilot member and attended the chapter’s biggest fundraiser of the year: The Reno Championship Air Races. I figured if was going to be applying for one of their scholarships, I should probably partake in the fundraising event! Following the Reno Air Races, I interviewed for the scholarship and was fortunate enough to be the Primary Rating Scholarship Winner for 2014, and continue to reap the benefits of a scholarship and membership with the Ninety-Nines.  Joining the Ninety-Nines became a turning point for my aviation experience. I was immediately engrossed in a vital network of aviation that has done nothing but benefit me and allowed me to benefit others.

Benefiting others is where this new scholarship comes in. Since receiving this scholarship, I have been passionate about helping others receive the same kind of assistance. Today, I am the Vice-Chairman of our local chapter, the Reno High Sierra 99s, and will be transitioning to Chairman this summer. In the past few years, I have helped raise money for scholarships that I didn’t feel I could effectively market to friends and family outside of my aviation community.

I was raising money for very important scholarships, but the eligibility requirements called for women who had already started in their training and reached certain milestones.

I wanted to offer the women in my local area a scholarship that would help them get started from the very beginning.

I wanted to offer a scholarship that would assist them in reaching the eligibility requirements of other scholarships. That’s where the Click Bond Aviation Discovery came to life. I work for a company that lives and breathes aviation. We have numerous pilots at Click Bond and I thought it would be a great sponsorship opportunity for my own place of work to take part in. I was thrilled when Click Bond was happy to partner with us to offer this new scholarship.

The application period has been going on for about a month now and The Click Bond Aviation Discovery Scholarship is STILL accepting applications. With less than a week away from the deadline, please do not miss out on this incredible opportunity to get started in your flight training. I promise that this scholarship will be more than just $1000. With it comes the incredible community of the Ninety-Nines, and that is something you will never be able to place a price tag on.
